If you were served the Summons and Complaint by some other means than it being placed in your hands, you have 30 days to respond.

Please note that calling the attorney that served you the foreclosure papers against you is not a valid response. It's mandatory that you file a Formal Answer where you respond to every allegation in the complaint against you. This is the critical time where you assert any defense you may have. Additionally, the Verified Answer to the Summons and Complaint in foreclosure must be acknowledged by a Notary Public and served upon the opposing counsel and the Court.
